in the u.s. usually only the widow,wheres black,the widower wears white...but not in all cases..

I dont really like wearing black even though it looks fabulous on me. I think its a morbid color.

Its tradition in christinity when someone dies so mourners wear black clothing to mourn.

I would say because black and white are most formal.. And we commonly wear white for weddings because it's a happy, bright moment. Funerals are dark depressing moments sober wear white.....
