I Afrian culture, we wear black after a death believing da t da spirits (believe to be white) won't trouble us.

From all the reasonable information and explanations that I managed to find (which were absolutely none) I have come to a conclusion that such colors are worn on these ocasions, because they are stereotyped as social norm for the ocassion and nothing more. But please dont get me wrong, I merely state what reflects my findings and if you wish to enlighten me with reasonable explanation in why exacly people wear such colors or why they are considered as some say colors that express sorrow, sadness or such feelings then please share...
