Pain, How You Can Handle It

While I've been ill for a number of months, and some of the functions in my body are still something like a building site on which some more medical and surgical repair work will take place, I have been taught something important, something to enable me to get through the days with more bliss and serenity. . . . I used to think that I'm in pain, but I was wrong. I used to think I'm p.iss.ing blood every day, but I was not thinking correctly. The truth is a completely different thing - my body is in pain, and so it is only correct to say that the body is in pain. It would be wrong to state that I was. - Likewise, I observe that some of my body's functions are in disorder, and those are, as implied, functions, not of me but of my body. . . . Never go to see a doctor and say 'I'm ill,' or 'I'm in pain.' Think of the facts in the correct way and let the doctor know that your body is ill, and that your body is in pain. I say, 'My body is in pain because he is ill.' But if you are female, say, 'My body is in pain because she is ill.' That's because you are either born in a female or in a male body. You say these things with your mind - or, better spoken, your mind says those things. I believe your mind is neither male nor female, but don't take my word on that. . . However, if your body is in pain, remember not to confuse things like I used to do. . . That which is YOU cannot be in physical pain, because you are not your body. If you notice that your body IS in pain, you can use your mind to do something bout it. The Body, the Mind, and You - three different things. If you remember that, or your mind remembers it, you will avoid much of the suffering which comes as a torment. There may be suffering, but it no longer has the confusing, engulfing impact which it used to have.

Wow! That's some deep shyt my eyes just read. You know... This theory, if read and understood by all, would solve a lot of problems, including pain, as you say... Beethovan's ears couldn't hear a pin drop, as he grew older, but the music his mind composed has the ability to creep inside through ever pore in your body and grab your lungs, leaving you breathless. THAT'S how strong a mind can be. Ok so I'm a little high and listening to Chopin Impromptu. Time to switch to "Hey I just met you, and this is crazy! But here's my number, so call me maybe!" goodnight.

You seem to be the only one understanding the intention here, it's quite bizarre how everybody else appears to take pity on me while I try to explain a concept for the possible benefit of other people. It's not just a theory, by the way - to mistakenly identify one's body as one's actual innermost being is what we humans usually do, but yes, that is where a lot of suffering comes from, mentally, physically, spiritually - but to discover, or rediscover, that neither the physical body, nor the thinking mind (which does nothing but telling stories and producing theories and believes) is YOU, well, that's perhaps getting away from all the theories. But it's also not about how strong the mind can be. After all, the mind only tells stories, and it's easily impressed and manipulated. The mind, a mere tool, is clever but not intelligent. Intelligence lies rather in the possibilities which we have in our essence.

Lol! Can't believe I said "Beethovan couldn't hear a PIN DROP"! HEHEHE! Bugger couldn't hear shyt! When I read about Transgendered people, your logic makes perfect sense. They always say "I'm trapped in the wrong body". The mind can play some dirty tricks on us, but sometimes our mind does make perfect sense when it works with our brain. My mum suffered with cancer for over 3 yrs before she passed away. But there was never a day she didn't smile. Her body was weak, but SHE was strong. Which made us strong. Something I've realized, while facing my mum and dad being in hospital at the same time is that, sometimes a strong mind needs some time alone to cry out the frustration. It makes us stronger and helps us to go through asituation for much longer without falling apart. I'm proud of myself for not falling apart. We just need to exercise our minds, confront reality, understand the situation we're in and face it. May it be a sickness in your body or a bad situation outside of it. *I'm not high tonight. So excuse me if I don't make much sense.

outlaw: I guess i can never detach myself from my body because of how frequently i need to use it for sensory pleasures. smiley I mean that would be like sending mixed signals to the body and it will be all confused and angry. "What, so now I'm YOUR body 'cause you have needs?! In the morning when you had that headache you told me I wasn't your body! Frig off". You must need to sacrifice the pleasures to not feel the pain, right? The detachment has to be complete or it wont work. Or can it work like a switch that one can turn on and off?
It always IS your body. But U NEVER ARE your body. When U get that headache in the morning, U communicate to your body that U will take care of him.

Kumz, I'm convinced there is no such thing as a wrong body. Such sensations are challenges our minds and emotions can confront us with. My deepest regards towards your mother! Those people who have a smile for the world every day in the face of their suffering and approaching death are the most valuable teachers for all of us.
