Launch of RMS Titanic

Titanic was the 2nd of 3 Olympic-sized liners designed n built at the Harland n Wolf shipyard in Belfast between 1908 & 1914. At her launch,she was the largest moving object of her time,weighing 46.328 tonnes with a capacity to carry 3.547 passanger n crue.

15 tonnes of tallow,5 tonnes of tallow n train oil mixed together with 3 tonnes of soft soap were needed to guide the enermouse vessel down the slopway at Harland n Wolffs Queen's Yard.Where she floated on the waters of the Victoria Channel in Belfast Lough for the first time.Although there was no ceremonial breaking of a bottle on Titanic's bow.100.000 spwctators turn out to witness her launch n rocket's were fire to mark the ocassion.Within an hour of her launch,Titanic was towed to the shipyard's deep-water fitting-out warf for completion as an ocean liner,ready for her maiden voyage in April 1912.
