Freedom is a lame man walking: Freedom is a woman with chronic obstructive lung discease able 2 breath easily. Picture a woman in a hospital bed. She is overweight an has just finished sneaking a cigarette. She sucks air in2 herself by an immense effort, neck muscles tightening with each breath. Her lips are blue. Her eyes stare in fear at th walls of her room. If God were 2 touch her, or if some miracle injection could give her new lungs, u might see the fear give place 2 surprise, then delight. The fight 2 capture air would be over. Her lips would turn pink again. She would get out of the bed an run down th corridor shouting. "I CAN BREATH !!, I CAN BREATH !" For her that would be FREEDOM. Freedom is a blind man stepping in2 light, a deaf girl released from a world of silence, a terrorized victim of political oppression discovering he can express his real opinions 2 anybody anywhere, an can walk out of his frontdoor checking 2 see whether th secret police ar around. THATS FREEDOM !!! Freedom is not "doing what u want" that idea is absurd. We think we know what we want, but we dont. We only know urges and hungers, the pull of illusions. Freedom is doing what u were designed 2 do, doing it with power and joy.
