Nigel Short a child prodigy from England won many laurels to his cap.. his highest achivment was play final in PCA world championship against Kasparov .whre he lost to mighty Kasparov. his mastery was in French Defence

I remember watching those matches on TV. It was quite a big deal here at the time being a rare occasion when a Brit had a chance at winning the title. Unfortunately Nigel only won one game in the series. And sadly soon after that television lost its interest in chess.
