From Arvind Khamitkar,I.A.S. Director of medical &research.Div. Chennai. Dear friends, A few week ago in a mobie theatre a person felt something poking from her seat. When she get up to see what it was she found a needles sticking out of the seat with the note attached saying " You have been infected by HIV" The disease control center (in Paris) reports many similar events in mamy other countrirs recently. All tested needles were HIV positive. The centre also report that needles have been found in cash dispenser at public banking machine. We ask everyone toto use extreme caution when face with this kind of situation. All public chairs/seats should be inspected with vigilance and caution before use. A careful visual inspection should be enough. In addition they asked that each one of you to pass this message along to all family members and friends of this potential danger. Recently one doctor has narrated a somewhat similar instance that happen to one of his patient at the Priya cinema Delhi. A young girl engaged to be married in a couple of months was pricked while the mobie was going on. The tagged with the needle had yhe message. " Welcome to the world of HIV family". Though the doctor told her family that it take about six months before the virus grows strong enough to start rampaging the system and healthy victim vould survive about5-6 yrs. The girl died in 4 months, perhaps more of " Shock Thought". We all have to be careful at public places, rest God's help! Just think about saving a life by spreading this message. Please, take a few seconds of ur time to pass along. With regards, Arvind Khamitkar, I.A.S. Director of medical &research Div. Chennai Rather than forwarding irrevelant mails, kindly pass this yo everyone. Probably your mail can.help save a life.

A number of studies have calculated the risk of HIV infection from any single needlestick injury where HIV-contaminated blood is involved is around 0.32%. http://www.aidsmap.com/Risk-of-infection/page/1324549/

princess_Soniya: i had this in my city, people poking people with needle and telling them they infected with hiv, this is terrible thing to do,thanks for that info and notice
Sis two of the student nurse from NEIGHRIMS hospitals wer infected by a needle prick from an infected HIV. So how do ppl say u cannot be infected just by a needle prick from an infected person. Any fluid dat comes out from an infected HiV patient can be infected to you. So if we r not infected by it why do have to wear PEP while caring for HIV infected person.

okay.... I get it. If you have patients that got infected through a needle tip it must be so and they are extremely unlucky.

I wouldn't know if this is true. But I've come to know many have made it their jobs to spread panic via net. Please Gini I don't mean you. My thought is " what of if this information Gini posted hasn't been widely publicized , then we start forwarding it to friends and wards hoping to save a life ? Don't you think it is then the evil minded ones among PLWHAs might start toying with this very idea of sticking contaminated needles in seats??? Maybe even seats in public buses! God please save your own . Please Don't help spread panic
