Its never going to happen. The Tolkien family doesn't want to sell him the rights. And rightly so... If you've read the Hobbit you'll see why. The movies are good, but not all what the book is. Its a pitty really. Maybe they'll sell the rights to someone else... Who knows. But I doubt it, after the Hobbit.
