Michael Whitaker Smith was born in Kenova, West Virginia, on October 7, 1957. He his a christian artiste,song and book writer and director. His father (Paul Smith) was an oil refinery worker and a caterer. He started writing songs when he was 5years. On a particular day in 1967 he surrender and gave his life to Jesus and he spent the remainder of his youth with a group of strong Christian friends. Sadly, when entered college started experimenting with alcohol, drugs and partying with a new group of friends. When was 20yrs he worked as a songwriter at Nashville and and join a band. He release his first ever album as a musician in 1983 with the help of his wife who wrote it.
