One summer,s day an ant was carefully collecting seeds and storing them in her nest Although the sun was hot and the work was hard , she worked steadily . As evening fell ,a grasshopper who had been chirping and singing all day long asked the ant, 'Why do you work so hard ,ant, when the sun is so hot and there is so much food just lying around ? The ant said nothing as she returned to her nest. A few months later Wind had come ,the weather was cold and there was little or nothing to eat.The grasshopper,half dead from hunger and cold came to the ant's nest and begged her for food to save his life. 'What were you doing all summer while I was collecting food ? asked the ant. 'Oh; replied the grasshopper , 'I was busy singing all day long.'Well ; said the ant grimly , then you will have to dance all winter to keep warm ;and she closed her door on the grasshopper.
