Processor failure gives five short beep. So i think ur pc's processor safe
Someone 2010/12/10 20:00
You said you try to overclock ur pc's processor, But do u know that... Overclocking has the potential to cause component failure(heat death)?
Someone 2010/12/10 20:11
If problem started only because of overclocking then you should try first... restore BIOS to factory default or take out the CMOS battery for about 10-30mins and the put it back in ...and boot up ur pc.

Wheneve I switch on cpu it gets started and give three beep sound, and on keyboard caps lock , num lock & scroll lock indicators till cpu is on .
well, , ,as vipul has already explained, , ,3 beeps in intel 945 chipset is indicated d recoverable memory error. . . .
at first u must try to restore all d dufault settings, , , ,
if it doesnt work, , as he said, remove d bios battery for 10-20 minutes and then put it back. .. it will clear all old bios setting and restore d defauls setting for ur bios. . .. .and if still it wont help , , ,i will prefer to contact a hardware vendor near by, , ,and ask him to lookup d RAM, , , ,
. . .. .
and dont worry bout motherboards, , ,its still okay(still im nt sure). . . .
and in future, , ,never ever try to increase d clock frequencies manually. . . .as, increasing clock frequencies, also increase d voltage supplied, , ,and thus it generates more heat, , ,dat cud cause u heating problems in hardware. . . .

Far as i know... taking out the CMOS battery for about 10-30mins will reset BIOS to its default settings.

The motherboard BIOS is stored in a chip on the motherboard. The BIOS chip normally comes in the form of a rectangular DIP (Dual In-line Package) or a square PLCC (Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier) package.

This chip is integral to the proper operation of the computer, and if it is corrupted or damaged the computer will likely no longer be able to start up. The BIOS chip on a motherboard is usually placed on the board by the manufacturer, and documentation with the board will often indicate what type of BIOS program is on the chip.

A BIOS chip uses non-volatile memory, which means that even when power is not supplied to the system the data on the chip remains. The BIOS allows the hardware inside the computer to properly communicate and work together during startup.

Did try another RAM(Memory ) on your PC? I think u need to try that too. If changing RAM didnt work.., then ur pc needs to be repair

The thing is tht you can't just play with the BIOS if ur not used to it... ok i understand that basically u lost ur OS... if im not wrong either u crased ur OS or ur Motherboard lost its configuration if the first thing happened try to boot ur pc with the Xp instalation cd(just turn on th pc with the cd in) and try re-install or just instal.. if the configuration of the motherboard got dumped... man u better buy a new one, i seriously recomend u to not attempt to play with bios anymore u could keep breaking other components...
