Pollution by LoneLy_heArt 2010/04/12 02:38
Pollution of the environment is one of the most horrible ecological crisis to which we are subjected today. We know that 3 basic amenities for living organisms are air , land or soil & water. Sometimes in the past, these amenities were pure, undisturbed, uncontaminated and basically most hospitable for living organisms. But the situation is just the reverse today because progress in science and technology is also leading to pollution of environment & serious ecological imbalance which in the long run, may prove disastrous for mankind. "Environment pollution is the result of urban industrial technological revolution and speedy exploitation of every bit of natural resources". The craze of progress in agriculture, industry, transportation and technology is taken as the general criterion of devlopment of any nation. Such activities of man has created adverse effects on all living organisms in the biosphere.

Rapid industrialization has left with us polluted rivers, contaminated soil, depleted wild life & exhausted natural resources. Today the environment has become foul, contaminated, undesirable, & therefore, harmful 4 the health of living organisms, inCLuding man. The splendid plentifulness of nature is a heritage that should never be spOiled. But the unlimited exploitation of nature by man has distrubed the delicate ecological balance existing between living and non-living components on the planet EARTH. The root cause of environmental pollution has been the man's misbehaviour with the nature under the false ego that he is master of nature. This is the undesirable situation created by man has threatened the survival of man himself and other living biota on the earth. The term environment , as far as pollution is concerned, includes the air, the water, the soil, the noise , the buildings, the oceans, the lake& river and many things....
LoneLy_heArt 2010/04/12 02:41
Pollution is usually brought about by the addition of waste products of human activity to environment.... When the waste products are not efficiently assimilated, decomposed, or otherwise removed by the natural, biological and physical processes of the biosphere, adverse effects may result as the pollutants accumulate or get converted into more toxic substances. The rivers, seas and lakes are polluted by wastes coming from various industries, the air by toxic effuents from thermal power plants & the land or soil by chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides , acidic rains and insecticides etc. There has grown up a serious concern about cities chocking with fouL air, toxic chemicals being used into the food products, the rivers turning murkey ,trees weathering, fish rotting in the rivers, the soil in which we grow fruits , VEgetables & flowers Have become infertile, disease epidemics spreading frequently. actually man is the root cause of all the pollutants, speading pollution everywhere
LoneLy_heArt 2010/04/12 02:42
It is well evident, therefore that every human society, be it rural, urban, industrial or most technologically & scientifically advanced, dispose of certain kinds of waste products as well as by products, which when they affect normal functioning of ecosystem & have adverse effect on plants, animals and human beings.
The most important & common pollutants of well developed & developing countries are deposited matter(soot, smoke, dust etc.)GASES(carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, ,fluorine, ammonia etc.)chemical compounds, toxi metals(Hg, Pb, Fe, Zn etc.)EConomic poisons(herbicides, pesticides, fungicides etc.) SEWAGE(human wastes) Radioactive substances(argon-41,cobalt-60, iodine-131,plutonium-239 etc.) fertilizers(such as K, N, P ) Niose and heat.
pollution has crossed all the tolerable limits. Many laws & acts R there. The only thing that can check pollution is public awareness. If not we are up immediately the problem will asstme catastrophic dimension......
