Kanye West Sued For Stealing "Stronger"

Rapper Kanye West now has more to worry about than just being sued by Suge Knight: the rapper now faces a suit that alleges he stole the lyrics from his 2007 hit single, "Stronger."

According to myfoxchicago.com, Virginia rapper Vincent "Vince P." Peters claims that he sent a copy of his version of "Stronger" to John Monopoly, West's manager, in hopes that Monopoly would be an executive producer on his project.

Seven months later, West released his single, "Stronger," on his album Graduation. Meanwhile, Peters' record deal fell through.

The suit alleges that West's verison copies significant and important parts of Peters lyrics identically or almost identically."

Both versions use the phrases, that which does not kill me makes me stronger, cant wait much longer, the corrupted word "wronger," and reference to Kate Moss.

Defendants named in the suit are Roc-a-fella Records, a New York record label and UMG Recordings. The suit clames one count of copyright infringement, and asks that West and the record labels be prohibited from selling, distributing or performing the allegedly copyrighted song, and that they destroy all copies they have of the single. The suit also seeks an unspecified amount in damages.

Drake Sued By Playboy

Lil Wayne isn't the only one in the Young Money camp with legal troubles, as Drake is now being sued by Playboy Enterprises.

According to misstilaomg.com, the suit accuses Drake, Cash Money, and Universal of Copyright Infringement. Specifically, the song sampled at the beginning of Drake's hit song, "Best I Ever Had," is allegedly property of Playboy Music, Inc. and Playboy Enterprises.

The song in question is "Fallin' In Love," by Hamilton, Joe Frank and Dennison/Reynolds. The suit claims that the defendants knew or should have reasonably known, that the sound recording was protected by copyright and that each Defendant continues to infringe upon Plaintiffs rights in and to the copyrighted sound recording.

The goal of the suit is to get the court to issue an injunction, which mean the defendants would be forced to stop selling/distributing the song, and to stop profiting from it. In addition, the Drake and the others would be required to account for all profits, gains and advantages made from the song, and pay costs and attorney's fees.

Dr. Dre Says Detox Coming, "Under Pressure" Unfinished

In a recent, brief video interview with Hard Knock Television, Dr. Dre spoke about his upcoming project, Detox, and its much-discussed leaked track, "Under Pressure."

Dre, who was interviewed at the 23rd ASCAP Awards, spoke on his oft-delayed album. "Absolutely, I'm leaving this event and heading right to the studio. I'm getting it crackin' and trying to put it out by the end of the fall. I'm trying to give everyone what they've been waiting for and make sure they're not disappointed. This it, that's all I'm doing."

Dre then spoke on "Under Pressue," which was met with lukewarm reception. "[The leaked 'Under Pressure' was] absolutely not [real]," said Dre of the cut, which features Jay-Z.

Dre went on to describe the leak's shortcomings, and the internet's impact on music security. "I didn't get a chance to finish the record, the vocals are real rough, it's not blended right and there's not even a hook on the song. It's not done, the music's not done, it's just one of those things we have to deal with today in this business because of technology and all of that. It's real easy for somebody to steal your shxt so what can you do?"

Deejay Fired For Playing Trae Tha Truth Song At Concert

ouston radio personality Brandi Garcia has been fired, reportedly for playin a song featuring Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth.

KBXX 97.9 "The Box," the radio station for which Garcia worked, banned Trae's music after a 2009 festival for at-risk young people, hosted by Trae, was marred by individuals open-firing on the crowd and wounding six people.

The incident, which took place at Texas Southern University, was one year removed from a tribute to Trae's work in the community, where Mayor Bill White and City Council Member Pete Brown declared an honorary "Trae Day" in Houston.

Later, an on-air argument between Trae and KBXX's DJ Nnete Inyagumia about who was responsible for the violence ensued. Trae's music was banned thereafter. The rapper responded by announcing he was suing KBXX and Radio One for blackballing him aand his associates, and sabotaging his career.

After Garcia played Waka Flocka Flame song "O Let's Do It," which features Trae Tha Truth, at a concert at the Arena Theater, the radio personality was reportedly fired. I went in the office the next day and they told me I was fired for playing that song, explained Garcia. It may be legal, but its unethical. Its a shame this has gotten this far, that a personal problem can effect somebodys career that they have worked so hard for for 14 years. But dont think for one minute I am out of the game.

Game Speaks On Possible G-Unit Reunion

In an interview with StreetzOnFire, filmed during BET Awards weekend, rapper The Game clarified recent statements he made in regards to a possible G-Unit reunion.

Game explained that he wouldnt be opposed to a reunion and that money is a key motivator.

I was just letting the homie know that its 2010, said Game. Its a new day and its really time to get money you know what Im sayingSo all Im saying is why not get out here wing it like Voltron and shxt. Bring it back full circle and make some mother fuckin money. So what I was saying was I wasnt opposed to it.

Although Game is willing to take part in a reunion he revealed that no apologies are expected nor are they necessary.

He got an ego. I got an ego. Aint nobody apologizing, Game explained. Aint nobody saying that they was wrong, but you aint gotta do that to make amends. You just gotta get together, do the shxt, and you can do it for the sake of money. We dont gotta break no peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in half and do the shxt. Come to an agreement as men, get the shxt done like men.

For the past few years there has been a constant rift between Game and members of G-Unit. G-Unit has yet to respond to Games talk of a reunion.

Swizz Beatz, Snoop Dogg

Method Man and Fat Joe aren't the only rappers in hot water with the IRS. Swizz Beatz, the super producer behind hits like Jay-Z's "On to the Next One" and DMX's "Ruff Ryder Anthem," has recently been served with a *652,727 lien for unpaid federal taxes from 2008.

This isn't Swizzy's first run-in with the Taxman. He and ex-wife Mashonda racked up a number of liens, totaling up to about a *2.2 million debt. Swizz and his lawyers are currently negotiating "...an amicable resolution [to] the dispute."

In other news, Snoop Dogg apparently tried to hire the entire European country of Liechtenstein for a new music video shoot, 35,000 residents and 61.7 square miles and all. As strange as the request sounds, the deal could have come into fruition, but unfortunately for the D-O-Double G, there was not enough time to lease the entire country.

"We've had requests for palaces and villages but never one to hire the whole country before," said Karl Schwaerzler, local property lease agent. "It would have been possible...[but Snoop's management] did not give us enough time."
