Yes, it should be good business for them with so many Whatsapp users being forced to upgrade. I'm still sticking with BlackBerry for my primary phone though, will just use the Android apk for Whatsapp on my BB Classic when the time comes, the same as I do for Skype. Another option for keyboard lovers is to get the BlackBerry Priv or wait for the upcoming BlackBerry Mercury, both of which are Android phones.

On a positive note, according to the Whatsapp blog BlackBerry and Symbian S60 users have been given a reprieve until June 30th 2017, so maybe Mark Zuckerburg and co are listening to criticism.

Unfortunately no, only phones on the newer BB10 operating system can run Android apps, such as the Q5, Q10 and Classic.

Now am wondering the sudden U-TURN whatsapp made to have prolong their decision until June 2017! Could their be any bribery from blackberry to whatsapp for the sudden change of decision that many thought was affirmed and would stood?

Now on Whatsapp the message when opening the app says it no longer supports this phone, but it still works. My guess is they simply realised that too many people are still using BlackBerry OS phones. As BlackBerry themselves are moving towards all their new phones being Android and would probably prefer if more people used BBM instead of Whatsapp anyway, my guess is they wouldn't use any of their limited resources to bribe. Anything is possible though.

I can still backup my chats with a click without signing up on gmail. , My trick work on android only and I'm working on other Operating system too....

Sorry I don't agree with them saying one whatsapp on a phone, If you're using Xiaomi you can activated two whatsapp in a single phone with different numbers or contact or download parallel Space app on android to run two different whatsapp lol.

That Mark Didn't fully bought Whatsapp , He and the creators sign an agreement to work together but because of the investment made with that huge sum of money that's why the creators want to give him a ride or piece of cake lol.
Where on earth could a creator of app sold it and the same person announce upgrade to the service, was hE the owner again?
Wait and let see what will happen ha hA ha

I would agree if not 100% that Blackberry founder/group are striving hard people make use of BBM than whatsapp... I wanna assume what an amazing and exciting features newer blackberry would present apart from as well being Andriod/OS
