make it simple and fine and classic one, organise a suprise birthday party at home with family. Mostly it's most perfect time to learn something new for him so get him admitted secretly in any institute for extra course like IT related.

I would say a personalized T-shirt or a mug,something usefull that would remind him of you,something that he uses everyday.
