Nature poems 1 by Crownstar 2015/07/03 11:04
Whether one is watching a thrilling thunderstorm or looking up at a mighty tree, the experience of nature is one of awe. One cannot help but marvel at the intricate design of a single leaf, or the roar of a great waterfall. Time spent in nature is time spent realizing that you don't know it all and that you never will. The earth is meant to be enjoyed by its inhabitants. That includes keeping it in the pristine condition in which it was discovered. Everyone has a part of the earth that they relate to the most. Whether it is a majestic mountain range, a roaring waterfall, a bouquet of flowers, or the calm of the woods, these are places to get to know oneself and build bonds with family.

Rose In Full Bloom

Rambling down a cobbled pathway, I stumbled upon a wild rose, Deep garnet red, Velveteen petals each curled to perfection, Luminescent and innocently pretty, A coy damsel oblivious of her beauty, Fading away unadored and unsung, Looking at me, she blushed
I stood love stung, adoring her, Borrowed a steam bearing a bud Planted her proudly in my garden, Ever day, day after day, I watched my rose break out of its chrysalis, Groomed it with devout care,
Nurturing it with fertilizer, Admiring it with every moment,
Watching it grown and come into full bloom, Tall and elegant till it grew And looked down on me!

Tall Pine

Upon her crystal shores... waves of shimmering light. Part of a larger symphony near water's edge. Under tall pine a leaf gently spirals to the ground. A small note... unheard by most. A piece of that song. A myriad of light from so far away... but really not so far. A glimmer highlights the base of tall pine. Blending with the fallen leaf's song. A neighbor's melody of change.
A different forest. A new time. Within the sounds... a symphony. Within the rhythm... a remembrance.
A note heard by those who choose to listen. Touched by a myriad of lights. Reflecting upon a small leaf. Sounds blending under tall pine. Dancing around a tree... upon crystal shores.

Countryside To City

As I look to the sky I can clearly see The glorious sun beaming down on me The clouds go from thick to a whispy thin To miss such a view is a terrible sin As I look around this spectacular place I feel a smile take over my face The fields of lush green grass are dotted With beautiful wild flowers the bees have spotted Busily flying from flower to flower Pollinating before a shower The distinctive red of a poppy field To a tarmac strip they have to yield The man-made pathway cuts through nature's canvas Taking us to far flung places around us To a built up concrete industrial machine
Where places like this are rarely seen So whenever you visit the countryside Take a few moments to put aside So you will remember what you have seen Before you return to the not so green.

Silent Sight

All is silent, all is still No one around to see the thrill; Small, small light A shadow moves The petals move, start to sing
Wind picks up, nature's music starts Starting at point base, feeling in the heart Born to feel, always live the same Never let the soul ever be tame; Starting to move, step by step Slowly at first, but fast at last; Keeping in tune to the sound of the heart Finishes, beautiful spin; tidy dancer starts off again; A silent applause, for no one to hear A feeling of gratitude from those who are near; Still no one around, absolutely no sound But a smile suddenly creeps while around everything sleeps. The heart always goes what the eye always shows
Never give up that feeling you hold....

Touched By Snow

A small girl on a frozen pond... skates in hand. A small pond... trees near by... snow is falling. A bench to put on her skates. A twinkle in her eye. Touched by the wind on her face. Spinning... spinning... spinning. Snow flakes are falling. Together, a picture. A young woman kneels near the ice. Her eyes catch the eyes of a small girl there.
Spinning... spinning... She feels the presence of eyes upon her. An old woman sits on the bench. Her thoughts drift... Eyes twinkle behind closed lids. Painting pictures in the snow.
A small girl arrives... she sits on an empty bench.
Snow flakes fall. She looks over a frozen pond... trees near by. A gust of wind... snow flakes spinning. Copyright 2008 David Hoffmann

These are poems about experiencing the great outdoors. On the other hand, when we ignore the beauty of nature and spend our time in an urban jungle our stress levels go up and we begin to feel as if we are made out of the concrete that we see all around us.
