Malaria is a parasitic disease tht involves HIGH FEVERS, SHAKING CHILLS, FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS, AND ANAEMIA. Malaria is caused by a parasite that is passed frm one human 2 another by the bite of infected Anopheles mosquitoes. After infection, the parasite (called sporozoites) travel through the bloodstream 2 the liver, whr they mature and release another form, the Merozoites. The parasites enter the bloodstream and infect the red blood cells. The parasites multiply inside the red blood cells, which then break open within 48 to 72 hours, infecting more red blood cells. The first symptoms usually occur 10days to 4weeks after infection, though they can appear as early as 8days or as long as a year after infection. The symptoms occur in cycles of 48 to 72hours. The disease is a major health problem in much of th tropics and subtropics. It is estimated that thr are 300-500 million cases of malaria each year. And more than 1million ppl die frm it. The most common and dangerous form of malaria is contracted through bites from the Plasmodium Falciparum mosquito, and can be fatal. Symptoms include feelings of weakness, lethargy and dizzyness, fever and sweats, muscular and abdominal pains, vomiting and diarrhoea. The disease can result in death if NOT treated soon enough.
