I think that we should be very careful in general, more especially in the UK, how we structure and word discourse on any sensitive subject. In order to narrow the debate to the actual issues and not allow it to degenerate into the all too common accusation and name slinging we so often see.
For instance any other difference is usually treated more tactfully. For instance, if the gang is comprised mainly of people of a particular race we would not focus on it. The same for the economic class or orientation, why then would we focus on their religion and even more specifically their religion only if their religion is Islam. We do not speak of Christian gangs or Aethiest gangs or Bhuddist gangs so why then speak of Muslim gangs.
