Don't Talk To PM of India In Hindi, Only English by HandsomeDon 2014/06/03 16:38
If you don't know English, you can't interact with your prime minister. It sounds a little surprising but it's true.
In order to make Prime Minister Narendra Modiaccessible to the citizens of the country, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has launched a website ' Interact with Hon'ble PM' ( http://pmindia.nic.in). One can easily write his or her queries, complaints and suggestions to the prime minister through the website. But the portal only accepts roman script and its maximum character limit is 1000.
In addition to English alphabet, the Queries/Comment field of the website allows characters like Alpha numeric, %, &, *, @, _ and comma.
Notably, allowing only English language as a way of communication is in violation of the Official Languages Act, 1963. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, "Under Section 3(3) of The Official Languages Act 1963, resolutions, general orders, rules, notifications, administrative & other reports, press communiqués, administrative and other reports and Official papers to be laid before a House or Houses of Parliament, contract, agreements, licenses, permits, tender notices and forms of tender shall be issued bilingually, both in Hindi and English."
As per the PMO, if you have any query, complaint o comment, you need to log on to http://pmindia.nic.in/. Fill the mandatory fields and submit it. Your queries or comments will be registered and answered through e-mail. But after submitting you compliant, you won't get any acknowledgement. In short, you will have no record that you have lodged a complaint with the prime minister.
The website also do not mention the time period within which the PMO should respond to your compliant.
