Main menu in S60v2 phones allows users to rename only folders. This trick enables users to edit names of applications. You will need: - S60v2 phone (Tested on Nokia N72) - A file explorer which allows access to system files. (e.g. X-plore , FExplore etc. X-plore will be used in the tutorial.) Method: We will rename ‘Go to’ application to ‘Pinboard’ 1. Select the icon of ‘Go to’ in My own folder.
2. Select Options>Move to folder>Menu>Ok.
3. Move back to main menu. 4. Again select the icon. 5. Select Options>Move. 6. Select the top-left icon on the main menu. 7. Select Ok. ‘Go to’ icon should now appear at the top-left of your main menu. 8. Open your file explorer. 9. Go to C:SystemApps 10. Rename any folder by adding a ‘.’ to its name. 11. Most probably the folder will not be renamed. If it is renamed, restore it back to the original. (We
just want to refresh the main menu.)
12. Quickly press the menu key. 13. Select any folder (and not application) and select options. 14. Wait for the menu to refresh due to step 10. 15. ‘Go to’ icon, behind the options menu, will be selected. 16. Select Rename, edit the name and select Ok. 17. Move the icon back to My own.
