Gratitude is a virtue that cannot be claimed as of right, otherwise one must be said to hav only lent one's services not given them gratis. Gratitude is rather the offspring of a negative generousity of character, delicate sensitivity to least kindness received.
Gratitude is of three types:-
1,gratitude in thought or a spirit of
gratitude which is the foundation of the rest.
2.gratitude in word which must be informed by the inner spirit, lest it should generate into mere lip-virtue.
3.gratitude in deed is the test of the sincerity of ur words.

I think that gratitude is a perfect counterbalance to insanity. You just have to look at the unhappy eyes and abnormal behaviour of ungrateful persons, to realise there is a touch or more of madness lurhing within
