Geetali Norah Jones Shankar was born on the 30th of March, 1979. Norah is an American singer, songwriter, pianist, and actress. She is the daughter of Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar and also the half sister of Anoushka Shankar. She attended the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, where she sang in the school choir, participated in band and played the alto saxophone. Jones then attended the University of North Texas where she majored in jazz piano and sang with the UNT Jazz Singers. In 2002, Norah launched her solo music career with the release of the album "Come Away with Me", a fusion of country music and pop, with elements of jazz which was certified diamond album, selling over 26 million copies. This particular album and the song "Come away with me" are the main reasons Norah became one of my favourite musicians. This same album also earned Norah Jones five Grammy awards! Later on she released the albums "Feels Like Home" ,in 2004, "Not Too Late" , in 2007 and her 2009 release "The Fall". They all gained Platinum status, selling over a million copies. Jones' fifth album, "Little Broken Hearts", was released on April 27, last year.
