Facebook testing sound notification feature
Facebook thinks that the visual cue of that little red number at the top left corner may not be enough, so they’re testing a new feature that would guarantee you never miss another notification.
Next time someone likes your status, you might hear a notification before you see one. Facebook has confirmed it's testing a new feature on a limited number of users that makes a sound alert each time the user gets a notification.
If you're one of the users who has the new feature, VentureBeat has found a way to turn it off:
Click the arrow on the top right of the Facebook website. Go to "Account Settings" and click the "Notifications" tab. Once there, click "View" on the top tab and uncheck where it says "Play a sound when each new notification is received."
No word on whether this feature will be rolled out to all Facebook users.
