When Facebook went public, a lot of people wondered what exactly it would sell. Facebook is the largest social network in the world and often the question was asked what wares it is likely to sell. The rumors now are that Facebook is developing a smartphone that is dedicated to Facebook and will be made by the hand set maker HTC. Well it has not been confirmed by either parties, but it is rumored that the HTC Opera UL will be christened as the next Facebook phone.

The origin of the leaked information as the Pocket Lint and subsequently spread all over the globe. The site has sourced this leak to very reliable sources and the phone has been code named HTC Opera UL. The new phone will be introduced as Facebook Phone and made for Facebook. To authenticate the claim the site has showed a phone on the NenaMark 2 benchmark testing with the name “OPERAULâ€. Features in the test showed a smart phone powered by a 1.4GHz processor .It also featured a touch screen display with a resolution of 1280×720. The phone is powered by the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean software right out of the box.

It was in July when the first rumors of the Facebook phone was heard and in July it was rumored that the Facebook phone will be ready by the year end. The launch has now been pushed further into 2013. HTC is no stranger to making Facebook centered smartphones and in the past had made HTC Salsa and HTC ChaCha, both of which came with a committed Facebook button. HTC ChaCha later was featured in AT&T network as HTC Stratus. It needs to be seen how successful the new Facebook centered phone will be.
