If I Were To Be Born (Love & passion for cricket) by Mahesh 2012/06/29 09:38

If i were to be born again, I just wish for one thing, Be a small part of this magnificent game..
If i were to be born again, I just wish for one thing, Be a story of Ball, Bat and Pitch..
In the by- lanes, where glasses get shattered, Let me born there, Let this dream roll in, Let the sounds reverberate everywhere..
If I ever be a stone would want to be that wall, Where the wickets of this cricket carnival are written at its heart, If i were to be born again, I wish for just one thing..
Throw me down or throw me up, Turn me into a ball without a question, Let me roll in dirt losing all my sheen..
A sweet pain emerge, let me not sleep, Wake me up in that jungle, Wake me up in that jungle, That's close to the dwelling of fans...
Where passion for this game resides, Battles fought with smiles, a unique sound unites, I shall gain pride by only being that tree, Which is transformed into a bat.. If i were to be born again, I just wish for one thing...
Let me be counted as just a number, Let me be counted as just a number, The fours, the sixes, the elevens belong to me, Born as the grass that adorns cricket fields, Trampled upon I shall sing the song of pride..
The song of love for the game If I ever be a stone, the beat of the cricket world, If I were to be born again, I just wish for one thing...
Let me be the singing wind that blows, To dry every drop of sweat from the game, Let me be the cloud that befriends cricket, Ready to stop the rain from the game, If i were to be born again, I just wish for one thing...
When the ball is fired by the dancing fingers, In that moment all my dreams shall turn real, If need be, let me be turned into a rope, Tie me beyond those boundary lines, I'm ready to be that white lime powder, Ready to be used as the boundary line..
I want to be that scream of victory, Filled with passion and ecstasy, If I were to be born again, I just wish for one thing..
If I were to be born again..

Big B (Amitabh Bachchan) recited these lines penned by Prasoon Joshi, on a magnificent stage at the inauguration of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Season-5 on April 3. The poem exalts cricket and lyrically expresses the passion we feel for the game.
