Which is better - iPhone or Blackberry ? iPhone, given the dominance it has in the market is in a league of its own. Blackberry phones, on the other hand, have always been known as business phones, suave and very classy. So let us take a look at both these heavyweights of the smartphone industry.
In a sense, the question which is better - iPhone or Blackberry couldn't have come at a better time. The reason being, Apple launched the most anticipated phone of the last year, the Apple iPhone 4G which went on to become a best-seller in the third quarter of 2010 and Blackberry which was once known for its business phones, launched two user-friendly touchscreen phones, Blackberry Torch and Blackberry Storm to take the iPhone head on. Apple iPhone or Blackberry, has since then been one of the evenly contested battles in the cellphone industry.

As I mentioned earlier, that the answer to the question which is better - iPhone or Blackberry would have been different couple of years ago. Till then, the world was still in awe of the iPhone 3G and the Blackberry phones were mostly seen in the hands of corporate honchos or accountants who it seemed had been given the tiring job of replying to many e-mails!
Apple realized that if it has to retain its dominance in the smartphone market, which was being flooded by HTC phones, Motorola phones, etc., it will have to make some innovate changes to its next iPhone model. So, the iPhone 4G was unveiled and in a couple of days, it was out of stock. People who had pre-ordered it months ago, got the phone, with many of them having to pay up to *200 upfront along with a two year contract. It boasted of some of the features seen first time in the mobile phones industry like the Retina eye display and a two-way FaceTime video chat.
Blackberry on the other hand made so many qwerty keypad phones that every other qwerty phone in the market was tagged as 'blackberry type' phone. But then, it had a limited market and developers at RIM (Research in Motion ) were aware that to capture the smartphones market and to be an able alternate to iPhones, they will have to come out with something which appeals to the masses. The result was two awesome touchscreen phones, Blackberry Storm and the more recent Blackberry Torch. RIM also changed the way it used to market the Blackberry phones, with youth, with their increased spending capabilities featuring in their adverts rather the suave looking businessman showing his boss some statistics on the phone. By including a 5.0 megapixel camera and sleek graphics, the Blackberry of today symbolizes a device which still can be used for business purposes, but won't let you down on entertainment quotient. So the debate on which is better - iPhone or Blackberry is still wide open.

I have read numerous iphone vs blackberry reviews and have been into many debates with my friends whether the iPhone or Blackberry is the better phone, but all these debates have been inconclusive and often exhausting! The fact is that both of these brands have been successful in creating a niche for themselves. Many critics, however are of the view that there are other brands which have phones with better cameras and efficient touch screen technology. Instead, they feel that many people just want to have these phones because of the status symbol quotient associated with these phones. As far as I am concerned, I have never been able to type more than two words on a touchscreen phone, so if someone asked me which is better iPhone or Blackberry, I would go with Blackberry and to name one it would be the Blackberry Storm. The iPhone doesn't appeal to me but I think Blackberry phones are reasonably cool. I'm a traditionalist at heart though so still prefer a good old-fashioned candybar with alphanumeric keypad.

I got an iPhone before, and I didn't like it at all. I guess screen touched doesn't suit me... Hence I'm going for BlackBerry...

I currently have the iPhone 3G and had
the original iPhone when it first came out.
I love the phone and coverage with AT & T
has been great in the Boston and NYC
where I am spending the most time. It
uses 3G just like the blackberry but has a much nicer web browser application and
many more apps. I however am in the
process of trying to trade for a Blackberry
for one reason: BBM (blackberry
messaging, its free from any blackberry to blackberry). I think that if cost is an issue than a basic
blackberry would be great but if you can
spend a little more than either would be
acceptable. If people you text have
blackberries than thats what I would
recommend. Does the iPhone or Blackberry get good service in your area,
something to think about because no
matter how great the phone, most of the
fun stuff requires service!

I have a BlackBerry phone and I'm very happy with it. Firstly, I will not purchase an iPhone because I am not a fan of touch screen. Secondly, being an ex- avid Nokia fan and moving onto having a BlackBerry smartphone has been a major transition as both these phones have amazing features. However, third and finally, in my opinion and personal choice, a BlackBerry phone wins hands down in this "which is better" debate (BBM baby!). It must however be noted that each phone has its pros and cons no doubt and ultimately the decision is an individual one depending on one's own preference. To me, I love my BlackBerry and will always be a BB fan.
