ANGEL_OF_DREAMZ: @smashing. It depends on what sort of a budget you're on, and if you're buying a phone simfree, or subsidized by network provider.
Even alot of budget android phones, from lg and zte are quite good, and can be rooted, and have the operator bloatware removed.. Also able to install apps that require root access. Also you'd be able to get upto date modded roms ported, and installed. Advantages being on the current android version which is 2.2 froyo.
If you go for anything by htc bro, like the desire, wildfire, etc, then they're the most hackable, and is more opensource. Whereas cheaper alternatives of android like the lg flavours , are more locked down. There's not even a software updater built in the phone, and can only be done via their update tool via computer.
Anything by htc, motorola, have ota (over the air) updates, so they'd be more ideal.
Lot depends on budget bro.
If you wanna know more, on hacking android, search online for respected android modder cyanogen
you can see what devices he dedicates his time to lolz...
Hope this info helps with what device you go for.
