Does it have a real existence, or is it just a word we use to try and explain peoples actions that are so far beyond d pale that we cant understand them in any other way?

Life is more of evil than good.. To justify a person's action, check the cause of the matter, if it is evil, man tends to be evil, or otherwise..

EVIL LIVE within us trying to conquer our mind and wholebeing if we let it so. Hence, the only way to get rid of evil is to believe and have faith in GOD.

evil is a concept, an intangible idea, but if it helps you sleep at night to think of it as a red man with a goatie, horns and a pitch fork well then go for it ...

U've raised a good question there, I think. I know, many ppl here say, look around and you can see evil - that is, however, not a logical conclusion. It's like saying that sound around us proves the existence of music - if we didn't perceive, or interpret, certain characteristics of what we hear as music there wouldn't be any, only sound. Similarly, we disapprove of attitudes and actions which to us are undesirable, and if they are VERY undesirable we have the label evil for either the action, attitude, or the person. It doesn't 'prove evil', it's just a psychological way of dealing with something. In today's societies, the word also has, to me, a ring of false moral, self righteousness and lynch mob culture to it, so I don't actually use it in my daily vocabulary; it has, in its modern context, deteriorated into a nonsense word.
